The Los Angeles Lakers’ season hit a new low last night when the team lost to the worst team in the NBA, the New York Knicks. In Derek Fisher’s return to Staples Center as a coach, he guided his Knicks to a 101-94 victory and a sweep in the season series.

Despite all the improvements the Lakers have made in the past weeks and the stellar play of Jordan Clarkson, the Lakers could not take advantage of the lackluster Knicks. There was just a void of energy from the start of the game and Los Angeles was simply not playing team basketball.

Coach Scott spoke to the media after the game and talked about the selfish performance by his team Thursday night, via Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters:

The Lakers had just 18 assists last night and the team shot a putrid 5-18 from the three-point arc. Los Angeles did make a run late, but the Knicks were able to hold them off and surprisingly, their unexperienced roster was able to steal a victory on the road.

With this latest loss, the Lakers stand at 17-47 while the Knicks remain at the bottom of the standings at 13-51. Hopefully this team will improve on its ball movement for its next game which will come Sunday night against Eastern Conference’s best squad, the Atlanta Hawks.
