Phil Jackson1We know most of Lakers Nation is dying to see Phil Jackson back as head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. While Phil is around to help the Lakers when necessary and give advice when needed, he does not have an official role with the team.

Jeanie Buss spoke to Ric Bucher recently about Phil’s role with the team and what Phil could do:

He wants to be supportive of me and the organization. He has no contractual obligation. He would listen to anything where he might be able to help. If we asked him to fill in on the broadcast because someone was out, I’m sure he’d do it. Just because everyone puts him as a coach doesn’t mean that’s the only thing he’s capable of doing.

The prospect of Phil Jackson in the broadcasting booth has to bring a smile to Lakers fans faces. Sure, you would rather him be on the bench, but the entertainment factor Jackson would provide would be through the roof.

Jackson is never one to hold back his feelings. He would have no problems calling it like he sees it and he would surely leave zen-like messages throughout the broadcast so viewers could have their lives enriched by the Zenmaster while being entertained by the Lake Show.

Phil has no problems giving advice to people in anyone, regardless of star status so if Stu Lantz happens to get a sore throat, Phil would be a welcome addition to the booth.
