Lakers News: Ed Davis Won’t ‘Chase Money’ And Wants To Return

One of the few players on the Los Angeles Lakers roster that made a considerable impact during the 2014-15 NBA season is newcomer Ed Davis. Los Angeles was able to ink Davis to a two-year deal last summer in a surprising move that no one saw coming.

Davis has exceeded expectations in his first season with the Lakers and will have a big decision to make this summer. The veteran forward/center has a player option that he’ll almost certainly opt out of in order to become an unrestricted free agent.

During his exit interview on Thursday, Davis talked about his future saying the following, via Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News:

As arguably one of the most consistent players on the Lakers during the 2014-15 NBA season, Davis proved his worth and will definitely get a lot of consideration in terms of being re-signed.

Obviously, the moves made in NBA free agency and through the draft will help determine the team needs moving forward. Davis has a great chance of being retained on a long-term deal, but nothing is for certain and the North Carolina product could be headed elsewhere if both sides can’t see eye-to-eye this summer.
