With the NBA Draft in less than three weeks, the Los Angeles Lakers have been working out numerous prospects for their 2nd, 27th and 34th picks. While the team has been working out players for their late first round and early second round picks these past two weeks, Emmanuel Mudiay has scheduled two pre-draft workouts.

According to RealGM’s Shams Charania, Mudiay will work out for the Lakers tomorrow:
Emmanuel Mudiay has scheduled only two predraft team workouts so far: the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday and Minnesota Timberwolves on June 20 and possibly sooner, with the T’Wolves convincing the 6-foot-5 guard that he’ll be under serious consideration with the No. 1 overall pick, sources told RealGM.
In addition to working out for the Lakers, the Minnesota Timberwolves have expressed interest in taking Mudiay with their first overall pick, according to Charania:
Minnesota recently reached out to Mudiay and its front office laid out a vision for a roster with him, Andrew Wiggins and Zach LaVine, sources said.
While all the focus has been on Karl-Anthony Towns and Jahlil Okafor for the first two picks, D’Angelo Russell and Mudiay remain possibilities for both teams. In a time when guards are dominating the NBA, Los Angeles may opt to continue the trend instead of selecting a big man.
After failing to make the playoffs the past two seasons, there is optimism in Los Angeles. With the team armed with three picks on June 25 and cap space to pursue a max contract player, the Lakers look to take the next step in their rebuild.
