Los Angeles Lakers President Jeanie Buss has been very upfront in speaking about any issues that people have had with the team over the last couple of years. At this moment, however, Buss can speak on more positive things.

In a sit-down with ESPN’s Hannah Storm, Buss spoke about the state of the Lakers and said she is excited about the team. Buss spoke highly of new coach Luke Walton and his ability to connect and lead the young players on the team.

Some of the Lakers young core has been on display at the Las Vegas Summer League, in particular, D’Angelo Russell and Larry Nance Jr. have both looked like they are ready to take a leap this upcoming season. Rookies Brandon Ingram and Ivica Zubac, as well as third-year players Jordan Clarkson and Julius Randle, will all likely play significant roles this season as well.

Buss also spoke about the veteran additions the Lakers made in free agency this off-season, who she believes is exactly what the team needs and discussed the Lakers inability to attract big name free agents over the last couple of years.
