Lin sprained his ankle in practice last week resulting in the veteran point guard missing Sunday’s game against the Golden State Warriors. It appears that Lin will miss a second straight game with the 26-year-old ruling himself out for Thursday’s game at the Honda Center, according to Mike Trudell of Lakers.com:

In his two preseason games for the Lakers, Lin played well excelling in different parts of his game from one game to the next. Lin dished out 10 assists in the win over the Denver Nuggets and followed that up with a 14-point performance against the Warriors.

With the addition of Lin and rookie Jordan Clarkson, the Lakers were thought to have some insurance behind Steve Nash at the point guard position. Unfortunately, all three players are dealing with injures after having played in only three preseason games thus far.

Clarkson suffered a calf injury in the loss against Golden State last week while Nash is dealing with a back issues once again. The two-time NBA MVP tweaked his back while carrying bags and could be headed for another season filled with injury problems.

With Nash, Lin and Clarkson out against the Utah Jazz on Thursday, the Lakers will start veteran Ronnie Price at point guard.
