The Lakers finished the 2013-14 season with the most losses in franchise history. Losing seasons rarely come for the Lakers. Under the ownership of Jerry Buss, the Lakers became a championship basketball team as well as one of the most iconic franchises in all of sports.

According to Lauren Beale of the LA Times, the California home of Buss is off the real estate market:

Jerry Buss’ show-stopping mansion in Playa del Rey has sold for $5.1 million.

The mansion was custom built by Buss himself in Los Angeles. The 11,000 square foot estate matched Buss’s luxurious lifestyle.

When Buss purchased the team in 1979, the “Showtime” era began for the Lakers. The Lakers not only won basketball games, they made their home games an event. Celebrities flocked to the Great Western Forum to get a glimpse of the Lakers.

Following his death February 2013, Buss’s property, including the Lakers and various estates, went to his family trust. The Buss children are currently trying to make their own mark with the Lakers.

Since the Lakers are entering the off-season with a lottery pick and ample cap room, Jim Buss hopes to begin the process of building the Lakers back into a championship contending team. If he fails to do that within the next three-four years, he will reportedly step down from his position as vice president of basketball operations.
