Lakers News: Jodie Meeks Chimes In On Turnover Issues

jodie meeksThe Los Angeles Lakers do not have a reliable point guard on the roster right now as Jordan Farmar, Steve Blake and Steve Nash are all sidelined due to injuries.

Shortly after Kobe Bryant came down with a knee injury, the team went out and signed Kendall Marshall different. However, the main ball handling responsibilities fall in the hands of Xavier Henry and Jodie Meeks. Nick Young and Wes Johnson are also expected to facilitate the offense when on the court, but all the guards are having trouble adjusting their games.

Meeks spoke to the Los Angeles Times and he talked about the new roles the players have adopted.

“The guys that are handling the ball right now — myself, Xavier, Nick — we’ve got to get used to it,” Meeks said. “It’s probably been since high school since any of us ran the [point].”

In the Lakers’ loss Saturday night to the Golden State Warriors, the team combined for an embarrassing 24 turnovers. Meeks and Young both had four turnovers each, while Henry and Johnson recorded six among themselves.

Los Angeles is dealing with some serious point guard problems, but luckily they will be getting Jordan Farmar back in the lineup by Christmas.
