The Los Angeles Lakers have a ton of their own free agents to make decisions on, but with so many big name players available, the Lakers will likely wait to make big offers to them.

That strategy may lead to the Lakers losing some key players and the first one is already on his way out as Jodie Meeks has agreed to a three-year contract with the Detroit Pistons according to Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski:

After having a career year last season, it only makes sense that Jodie Meeks would get a much bigger contract. Meeks is an excellent shooter and the perfect guard off the bench.

At over six million per year, the Lakers were unlikely to match that type of offer for Meeks. Despite being a popular player, the Lakers had to let him go at that price.

With the Pistons, Meeks will get the chance to play for a top-flight coach in Stan Van Gundy, and is also sure to see some decent minutes. Rodney Stuckey is a free agent and the only other two guard is second-year player, Kentavius Caldwell-Pope.
