Former two-time NBA champion with the Los Angeles Lakers, Jordan Farmar returns home to LA. In his introductory press conference at the team practice facility in El Segundo, Jordan revealed that it has been a dream of his to play under the Mike D’Antoni system.
“Coming up and being young I dreamed of being in Mike D’Antonis system.”
Farmar played in a pick and roll system during his time in New Jersey with the Nets. Farmar is excited to play in the pick and roll system with the Lakers, where he believes he will have more freedom than he did under Phil Jackson and the Triangle offense. The Lakers are hoping that Farmar can contribute as a defensive stopper from the bench as well as running the pick and roll offensively.
“That’s an area I really want to focus on and contribute in this time around. Be a pest and a nuisance… Defense is a will thing. Just wanting to get stops and wanting to be a problem is what it’s all about.”
After the Lakers repeated championships in 2009 and 2010, Farmar joined the New Jersey Nets as a free agent. The UCLA point guard spent two seasons with the Nets, running the point guard duties from 2010-2012. During his first season with the Nets, Farmar scored 9.6 ppg, and had career highs with 5.0 apg, and 2.4 rpg in 24.6 minutes played and 18 games started. The last season Farmar played in the NBA he shot a career-best 44 percent from three point land, and 46-percent field goal percentage while averaging 10.4 ppg.

Farmar has spent the last two seasons playing overseas with Israel and Turkey. Jordan was productive in the Euro-League where he averaged 13.8 ppg, 3.9 apg, 3.8 rpg, 39-percent three point field goal percentage, and 45 percent from the field.
“I’ve grown tremendously as a person and a basketball player. The opportunity to get back here, which I consider home, is something I wouldn’t let anything stop.”
Farmar is ready and willing to do whatever it takes to help the Lakers win. The whole mentality which he brings is being defensive minded and spreading the floor with his perimeter jumper on offense. The return home to Los Angeles is more than an NBA comeback for Farmar, it is a chance to reignite something special in the City of Angels.
