Now that he is officially a Los Angeles Laker again, Jordan Farmar is looking to help out the team in any way he can. As a backup to Steve Nash he will be able to provide solid ball handling, shooting, and being able to chase around those quick point guards the Lakers have always had trouble guarding.

Another place Farmar will be able to help the Lakers is with his championship pedigree. Farmar went to three straight NBA Finals and won two championships with the Lakers from 2008-2010. With the departure of guys like Derek Fisher, Trevor Ariza, and now Metta World Peace, the onus of showing the new Lakers how to win a championship was strictly on Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol.
Now with Farmar back in tow he can speak on that experience as well, just as he did when he joined the then New Jersey Nets in 2011:
“(Teammates) asking me to bring my rings in just so they could look at them and admire. That experience is eye-opening. I really appreciate all those times in the past.”
The Lakers are a very proud franchise and all of those past experiences are on display everywhere from the Lakers office, to the practice facilities, to Staples Center itself with the statues outside and banners and jerseys hanging inside.
The end goal is always to win a championship, and when you get to that big stage it is a totally different experience. Whether you’re someone like Steve Nash whose time is running out, or Wesley Johnson who’s just getting started, making it to that grand stage is the ultimate accomplishment.
You need guys who have been there before to lead the way, especially for a franchise like the Lakers so rich in tradition and history. Jordan Farmar brings that to the Lakers and there is no doubt the team will be better for it.
