During Tuesday’s game against the visiting Miami Heat, forward/center Jordan Hill hyperextended his left knee. The injury didn’t appear to be serious, but there was reason for concern with Hill heading to the locker room in the fourth quarter and unable to return.

Fortunately, Hill’s knee injury didn’t require an MRI and all signs point to the veteran playing against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday, according to Mike Bresnahan of the Los Angeles Times:

Jordan Hill says his left knee feels better after he stepped on Hassan Whiteside last night. Says he can probably play Thurs vs. Cleveland

Hill has struggled over the last month or so after an impressive start to the season. The 27-year-old is currently averaging a career-high 12.1 points and 7.8 rebounds while shooting 47.3 percent from the floor.

Fortunately, despite Hill’s recent struggles, the Lakers were able to get a much needed boost in the frontcourt with the addition of rookie Tarik Black. Although no one would say the Lakers are deep in the backcourt, the team does have more options at forward and center to put some added pressure on Hill.

Ed Davis, Robert Sacre and Black will likely continue to push Hill to reclaim his form from earlier in the season.
