Kobe Bryant 14A little over a year ago, Kobe Bryant finally decided to jump on the Twitter bandwagon after experimenting with Facebook.

Instantly, Bryant became a must-follow for Los Angeles Lakers fans and as a result the superstar saw his following soar into the millions.

As of Monday, January 6 Bryant has over four million followers on Twitter while only following 848. The face of the Lakers franchise has been selective, as many athletes and celebrities have been, in terms of choosing who to follow. Bryant follows all sorts of people from celebrities, NBA players, Lakers media and fellow teammates, but he appears to be ready to mix things up.

Bryant posted the following on his Instagram account on Monday about what he intends to do with his new “Twitter system” moving forward:

Bryant said the following on his Instagram post about his new follow system:

New twitter system. YOU are in charge of building our community. I will pick the first 5 to follow. They will then dm me who to follow next (1xperson) at the end of the week. We add the next five and then THEY will do the same at weeks end.. I’m capping it at 500 then I will reset and start over again #keepitfresh #BSFollowsuggestionwillgetuMUTOMBOED . I will reset tonight and pick my first 5 community leaders in the am #beglobal #beentertaining #besmart #dontbully #havefun #lakernation #mambaarmy #2manyhashtags mamba out.

Prior to sending out this Instagram picture, Bryant also took to Twitter a few days earlier to announce he was going to make the changes:

New follow system comin.. 2 much clutter as it is #twitnoise

After more than a year of testing the waters in the Twitterverse, Bryant is going to roll the dice with this new system.

Needless to say, if you want a follow from the future Hall of Famer, it’s not going to be easy and you’ll have to prove your worth to the five-time NBA champion.
