On Dec. 17, the Los Angeles Lakers and all the fans of the storied franchise were shocked when it was reported that Kobe Bryant would miss six weeks with a fractured knee. It took everyone by surprise and made a lot of people question if he should return to the floor this season or simply shut it down.

Fortunately, Bryant has no intention of shutting it down for the season and will return to the floor at some point in the coming weeks. Recently, Bryant’s re-evaluation of the knee injury was pushed back to February, but now that has appeared to have changed according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN:

Kobe will be re-evaluated at the end of the road trip when the team returns to LA on either Monday or Tuesday, per the Lakers.

Bryant’s re-evaluation coming sooner than expected is a good sign that he’s made progress in his recovery. There’s still no timetable for his return, and Bryant has admitted that fact recently, but he may be able to get sooner rather than later.

Along with Bryant potentially returning in the coming weeks, Jordan Farmar and Xavier Henry have also made progress and could return around the same time if not sooner than the future Hall of Famer.
