Ever since announcing that this would be his final season for the Los Angeles Lakers, Kobe Bryant has been celebrated at every arena and in every city. Kobe’s final All-Star Game appearance in Toronto was an extremely anticipated event as well.

Kobe was the leading vote getter in the game and there were plenty of memorable moments celebrating the career of one of the best to ever play in the NBA.

As is normally the case with most things involving Kobe, his All-Star jersey from that weekend was a valued commodity. So much so, in fact, that it sold for over $100,000 on the NBA’s auction website according to ESPN’s Darren Rovell:

The jersey that Kobe Bryant wore for the first half of this year’s NBA All-Star Game sold Thursday night for $100,040. The price was the record paid for a piece of memorabilia sold on the NBA’s auction website, which has been around since 2006.

Kobe’s jersey nearly doubled the previous record which was set by LeBron James’ jersey that he wore in his first game after returning to Cleveland in 2014.

This is more proof as to just how popular Kobe is. Even though he can’t do what he used to, fans everywhere flock to stadiums to see him and will pay large sums of money just to own a piece of history.

There are only 13 games left for fans to enjoy Kobe, so fans everywhere should make sure to enjoy and appreciate Kobe while they can.
