Lakers News: Kobe Could Care Less About Dwight Howard’s Departure

As usual, Kobe Bryant was at the center of attention during media day for the Los Angeles Lakers. The main topic of discussion was regarding the veteran’s health and the timetable for his return to the floor, but Kobe was also asked about Dwight Howard leaving town.

Kobe first responded by saying that he felt Dwight was on his way out after the meeting he attended along with Steve Nash, Mike D’Antoni and Mitch Kupchak:

“After the meeting I felt like he was going to go to Houston.”

In classic Kobe fashion, the five-time NBA champion didn’t hold back about how he felt about the situation saying the following about Dwight’s departure:

“Honestly, man, I don’t really give a s***.”

Obviously, Kobe has moved on.

In fact, Kobe likely moved on before Dwight made his announcement that he was leaving to sign with the Houston Rockets with a sense that he was going to Houston.

With Kobe making these comments about Dwight, the first matchup against the Rockets will be anticipated that much more. The Lakers are set to face off against Dwight and his new team in Houston on Nov. 7. Although Kobe has not been ruled out for the start of the season, the perennial All-Star making it back for the first showdown with Dwight might be a stretch.

On Jan. 8, the Lakers will travel to Houston for the second and final time of the season, but the Rockets won’t head to Staples Center until Feb. 19. Unless Kobe suffers some setbacks or re-injures his Achilles, the veteran guard will be in the lineup to face Dwight in the center’s return to Los Angeles.
