Lakers News: Kobe Says It’s Important To Him To Stay With One Team

NBA: Los Angeles Lakers at Portland Trail BlazersKobe Bryant has played his entire career with the Los Angeles Lakers and he will end his career with the Lakers, there is no doubt about that. Recently Kobe revealed that staying with one team throughout his career is something he always planned on doing.

While in The Phillipines during his tour with Lenovo, Bryant spoke about spending his entire career with the Lakers:

It’s very hard to find in this generation of sports an athlete that stays with one team the whole time. That’s always been my dream as a kid, I’ve always felt like that’s how it should be. You start out with a team and you end with a team. When I was growing up I bled purple and gold and I still do.

Between players looking to go places where they are more comfortable and owners looking to save money in any way possible, it has become rare for players to stay with one team in their career in any sport. Legendary players like Emmitt Smith, Albert Pujols, and Shaquille O’Neal all will go down as some of the greatest ever in their respective sports and all played for different teams in their careers.

Kobe will not be leaving Los Angeles as long as he, and Jeannie Buss, have anything to say about it. Kobe added in some more words about the importance of staying with a single team:

It’s important to me. It’s something that I’ve always wanted to do growing up. It’s different strokes for different folks. Everybody likes what they like, but for me it’s really important to stay with one team.

Needless to say, we won’t be seeing anything resembling ‘The Decision’ from Kobe Bryant. The only decision he will be making is when to hang it up. And hopefully that won’t be anytime soon.
