After excerpts from his book were released, Phil Jackson has received a response to his assessment that Michael Jordan was a better player than Kobe Bryant.

Jackson’s book Eleven Rings: The Soul of Success is set to be released next week, and most of what’s been released so far has centered around the debate of who’s the better player, Kobe or Jordan.

While Jordan hasn’t made any comments, Kobe took to Twitter on Friday afternoon to share his thoughts:

The comparisons are #apples2oranges Wonder what the perception would be if M played wit @shaq instead #differentroles #differentcareerpaths

— Kobe Bryant (@kobebryant) May 17, 2013

To Kobe’s point, it’s easy to say that Jordan is better since he didn’t play with another dominant presence, but it’s always difficult to judge players in different eras.

Jackson was on “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno last night and talked about his intentions in returning to the sidelines and continuing the debate about Jordan and Kobe.
