Lakers News: Lakers Not Looking To Add Another Guard Right Now

With Steve Nash going down due to injury yet again, and looking pretty ineffective when in the game, there were some whispers that the Lakers could start inquiring around the league in hopes of landing another playmaking point guard. At the time, however, it looks like that won’t be the case as Mike Bresnahan of the LA Times reported:

Lakers not looking to add a guard at this point, btw. It’ll be a wait-and-see with Nash.

— Mike Bresnahan (@Mike_Bresnahan) November 13, 2013

Last year the Lakers struggled as both Nash and Steve Blake went down with injuries leaving Chris Duhon and Darius Morris to try and keep things afloat. But with Blake healthy and playing the best basketball of his career, and Jordan Farmar providing energy and athleticism the Lakers lacked last season, the Lakers are in a much better position at the point guard position now.

Pressure is on General Manager Mitch Kupchak to make some moves to improve this team immediately, but he must be patient and not make trades for the sake of making them.

The Lakers will need to eventually improve at the point guard position and get a young, athletic playmaker who can guard the league’s best guards, but in the short term, they will be fine with the guys they have in the locker room right now.
