Lakers News: LaVar Ball Wants Lonzo, LiAngelo, & LaMelo Together In L.A.
2017 Nba Draft: Lavar Ball’s Antics Reportedly Not Impacting Lonzo Ball’s Draft Stock

It’s no secret that LaVar Ball wants his son, Lonzo, to be selected by his hometown Los Angeles Lakers with the second overall pick in the upcoming NBA Draft. Despite being one of the top prospects available, Lonzo won’t work out for the Boston Celtics, who have the first pick. The hope is that Boston will pass, allowing the Lakers to snatch him up.

However, the LaVar’s ambitions don’t end with just getting Lonzo into purple and gold. With two other sons in the family, LaVar envisions all three leading the Lakers to NBA glory, according to a recent interview he gave to ESPN’s Jeff Goodman:

“All my boys are gonna be one-and-done. Gelo [LiAngelo] is going [to] be one-and-done whether he’s good or bad,” LaVar said. “I’m going to put him in the draft, hope they don’t take him. Bring him into the Lakers as a free agent, let him wind up with his brother and watch how good they play together….I’m going to do the same thing with Melo,” LaVar said. “And we get three of the Ball boys on the Lakers together, and we gonna go championship, championship, championship, championship, championship. You think I’m playing? You saw what they did in high school.”

Of course, the first phase of LaVar’s plan to bring his boys together requires that the Lakers draft Lonzo. While that seemed to be a near certainty after the results of the draft lottery were announced, recent rumors have suggested that Los Angeles is divided on who to select.

Kansas’ Josh Jackson is an intriguing prospect that has some support within the Lakers organization and Kentucky point guard De’Aaron Fox has risen up draft boards as well, particularly after outplaying Ball in the NCAA Tournament.

Additionally, if Markelle Fultz drops from his projected spot as the first pick in the draft, the Lakers would certainly have an interest in him as well. Still, as unlikely as LaVar’s goals may be, things have gone according to plan so far. We will see if that hold true during the draft on June 22nd.
