In Year 23, LeBron James continues to make history as he and the Los Angeles Lakers look to compete for the franchise’s 18th championship.
James had largely looked mortal since making his 2025-26 season debut, but he finally broke out in the Lakers’ win against the Philadelphia 76ers.
LeBron hit several clutch 3-pointers, including the dagger that secured the victory for Los Angeles. After the game, James noted he felt like himself, a positive sign for the team moving forward.
The win served as another accomplishment for LeBron, who moved into second place on the NBA’s all-time wins list by passing Robert Parish. James discussed what it meant to him to pass Parish and how he strives to help the next generation, via NBA:
“Listen, it’s just super humbling for sure bro. Like to be able to be in this position to play the game that I love and to still be able to do it at a high level and you always get mentioned with like…Obviously I didn’t get a opportunity to see Robert Parish in the height of his game he was in the 80s. I did see him later when he was with the Bulls, but you know what he meant to the game in that era, especially with all those championships they were winning going against the Lakers, Boston, stuff like that. Being a historian of the game and being able to appreciate it, that’s what’s most important for me. Appreciating the ones that came before me because they laid down the stones, they laid down the path and I’m trying to do the same thing for the next generation.”
Parish was a model of consistency and was a huge part of the Boston Celtics dynasty, so it’s a huge testament to James and how he’s been able to impact winning for so long. The NBA legend also took to social media to congratulate LeBron on the accomplishment:
Watching greatness reach new heights is always special. Records are meant to be broken, and seeing LeBron surpass mine for regular season wins is a reminder of his remarkable talent and passion for the game. Congratulations LeBron! https://t.co/VUQ4z36K3p

LeBron looked a step slow coming off his injury, but after his performance against the 76ers it stands to reason that he has more gas left in the tank. The Lakers remain in the thick of the playoff race and it’ll be fascinating to see how much longer James can prop the team up.
LeBron James shows love to Brandon Ingram and other former baby Lakers teammates
LeBron James has been long enough to see some of his former teammates flourish. For example, after a win against the Toronto Raptors, James gave a shoutout to Brandon Ingram and the other baby Lakers from his first year in Los Angeles.
