Lakers News: Magic Johnson Called In For Carmelo Anthony Pitch Meeting

Shortly before free agency began, Magic Johnson shared on Twitter that he was going on his annual vacation. While there was a report that Magic would not be part of Carmelo Anthony’s pitch meeting, he actually called in according to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne:

Magic Johnson was a part of the Lakers pitch to Carmelo Anthony after all. He called in from his European vacation.

With Jim and Jeanie Buss, Mitch Kupchak, and James Worthy present at the meeting, the Lakers made a strong impression and are considered the Knicks’ biggest threat. While Anthony was expected to make his decision on Monday, it appears he will take more time with the emergence of Los Angeles as a destination.
