Nick Young is never at a loss for words, and has no problem saying whatever is on his mind at the moment.

After last night’s season finale against the San Antonio Spurs, Young was spotted with his girlfriend and rapper Iggy Azalea, by TMZ. Young was obviously focused on things other than basketball, but also made a quick comment about coach Mike D’Antoni.

His comment led some to believe that Young was expecting D’Antoni to be fired after the season. However, during the Lakers exit interviews, Young clarified his comments according to Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters:

Nick Young joked that his 'It's a shame what happened to D'Antoni' quote from TMZ this morning was a movie quote.

Said what he meant was that "Mike is a soldier" and it's a shame what he's gone thru this year.

The misinterpretation of Young’s comments makes sense. His original words could easily be seen in the complete opposite way of how he intended it.

The comments were a little more surprising since Young has spoken about the tough hand D’Antoni has been dealt, and advocated for him to remain Lakers coach for another year. But with the clarification, it now makes sense what Young was trying to say.

Young will be a sought after free agent this season, and he is looking forward to being courted this off-season. The Lakers will have big decisions to make on both him and D’Antoni in the coming weeks.
