The Lakers successfully avoided a season sweep in a 115-99 victory against the Phoenix Suns on Sunday night. Chris Kaman led the Lakers to their 25th win of the season recording his sixth double-double with 28 points and 17 rebounds to go along with six assists.

The team had plenty of positive vibes in the locker room during their post-game interviews. Nick Young spoke to the media to address the team’s win at Staples Center saying the following according to Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters:

Nick Young: “We’re still battling. That’s all that matters. We haven’t given up yet & we’re just out there fighting” #PlayerHatersOfTheYear

With the team way out of the playoff picture, Young’s comments shows a bright sign of life to the Lakers season of lows with defeats and injuries that continue to pile up ever since Kobe Bryant’s knee injury end his season prematurely.

It’s still a sight to see when the undermanned Lakers pull off an astounding victory late in the regular season. The purple and gold continue to try derail playoff hopes contending teams late this season while the future remains uncertain for many of the players.

Only nine games remain in a season that couldn’t end soon enough for the Lakers.

With nothing to lose, the Lakers front office have a little more time to see players on the roster showcase their talent in the final stretch. Players such as Xavier Henry, Kent Bazemore, Jodie Meeks, Kendall Marshall, MarShon Brooks and Jordan Farmar will need to prove their worth in the final few games in order to merit a spot on the squad next season.
