The Los Angeles Lakers returned to the .500 mark after beating the injury plagued Brooklyn Nets, 99-94. The Lakers currently stand at 8-8 and are hoping to get another win Friday night when they travel to the Motor City to play the Pistons.

In the Lakers’ win over the Nets, guard Nick Young injured his left ring finger and after the game he had x-rays taken to assess the damage. Mike Trudell reports that Young sprained a joint in the finger and it will require a splint.

Turns out it’s a jammed ring finger for Nick Young on his non-shooting left hand. Getting X-rays now. Had his personal Lakers high w/26.

X-rays were negative on Nick Young’s left ring finger. He has a sprained proximal inter phalangeal (PIP) joint. Will require a splint.

Young scored 26 points off the bench for the Lakers and his four three-point makes were much needed. As a team, the Lakers knocked down 13 shots from beyond the arc and the hot shooting helped them open up a large lead in the first quarter.

Although the Nets made the game interesting late, the Lakers held on thanks to a well-balanced offensive attack with four players in double-digits.
