The Lakers are in the process of selecting their next head coach after Mike D’Antoni resigned last week. Many have been linked to the opening, but there is no rush from the Lakers to fulfill the position right away.

Nick Young jokingly revealed on Twitter the search is over as he will volunteer to coach the Lakers next season:

I’ll be the new coach

— Nick Young (@NickSwagyPYoung) May 7, 2014

If the Lakers want to make a splash with the search, Young provides a humorous opportunity. While Young doesn’t have the experience some of the other candidates may have, he’s up for the job. He’s got a Lakers background but not nearly like that of coaching candidates, like Byron Scott.

Of course, Young has an important decision of his own to make this off-season. All signs indicate he will opt out of his player option and become a free agent. During the 2013-14 season, Young led the Lakers in scoring, averaging 17.9 points per game.

Unfortunately for Young, the Lakers will be looking elsewhere. Scott, George Karl, and Kevin Ollie are just a few of the over ten candidates for the job. The Lakers search will continue over the next couple weeks and hope to get the Lakers back to their winning ways.
