Lakers News: Steve Blake Discusses ‘Great Friendship’ With Kobe

The trade deadline passed on Thursday, and the only move that the Lakers were involved with was a trade to the Golden State Warriors that sent over Steve Blake in exchange for guards Marshon Brooks and Kent Bazemore. Earlier today, Kobe took to Twitter to vent about the team’s decision to trade Blake. He saw Blake as a close friend and fierce competitor just like him.

According to Yahoo’s Marc J. Spears, it appears the new Warrior misses his former teammate as well. Before his debut with Golden State, Steve Blake spoke to the media and talked about Bryant:

Kobe and I had a great friendship while I was there. He’s one of the best teammates I’ve ever had. I’m definitely going to miss him. I appreciate his support throughout the years. I can’t lie, I’m going to miss him.

Earlier on Thursday, Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak explained the move as a chance for the younger Laker point guards to get more playing time. Developing Jordan Farmar and Kendall Marshall seem to be a move the Laker brass wants to take, and Steve Nash’s future is unknown at the moment.

When Blake left Staples Center Wednesday night, he shared that he might be open to returning to the Lakers should they want the point guard back. Blake’s contract is set to expire at the end of this season and may be an option for the Lakers.
