Lakers News: Steve Nash Excited About Running Princeton Offense

The Los Angeles Lakers finally acquired an elite point guard to run their offense, and for the first time in his career, Kobe Bryant has an All-Star playmaker in his back-court.

Steve Nash joined the Lakers this off-season and he will have the responsibility of making sure this team runs as efficiently as possible. Nash will have to adjust to Mike Brown’s new offense and will also have to get familiar with the Princeton offense. With the addition of Eddie Jordan to the coaching staff, the Lakers will run the Princeton Offense, but Nash told CBS Sports that he is ready to learn the new system.

“It’s going to be a big transition for me, but one I’m excited to take on and be open-minded about,” Nash said. “I think that the beauty of this team is that we have a lot of guys that can make the defense pay. If we play together, and we space the floor, and we read and react, we can be a difficult team to cover.”

Nash is the master of the pick-and-roll and he can fit well in almost every offense. He ran the Phoenix Suns for the past seven seasons and here in Los Angeles, he will have even more weapons to pass to. Not only does Nash have Bryant and Metta World Peace on the perimeter, but he has two talented big men in the paint.

The Lakers are looking very strong headed into the 2012-13 season and they no doubt have the most talented starting five in the NBA. Many people argue that the Lakers will not get their pieces to work well together, but with Nash running the point, things will likely work out very smoothly.
