Lakers News: Steve Nash Will Start Against The Spurs

The Los Angeles Lakers are coming off a devastating loss to the Golden State Warriors after getting the best of the Los Angeles Clippers in the season opener. Although Steve Nash didn’t make much of an impact right out of the gate against the Clippers, the two-time NBA MVP’s presence in the backcourt is always a positive for the Lakers.

After missing the game against the Warriors on Wednesday night, Nash will be back in action on Friday against the San Antonio Spurs according to Mike Trudell of Lakers.com via Twitter:

With Nash still not a 100 percent and nearing the ripe old age of 40, the future Hall of Famer will likely continue to sit in the second game of back-to-backs this season. Although Nash wanted to play against the Warriors on Wednesday, the veteran point guard sat out for precautionary measures and it may have been a wise decision considering the end result.

The projected starting lineup for the Lakers tonight is Nash, Steve Blake, Nick Young, Shawne Williams and Pau Gasol.

In the win over the Clippers, Nash only played 21 minutes while Jordan Farmar came off the bench and shouldered the load at the point with 27 minutes. Nash may continue to play limited minutes with Farmar backing him up until he’s healthy.
