With the Los Angeles Lakers suffering numerous injuries to the backcourt, the team recently signed Jabari Brown as their 16th player from their D-League affiliate, the Los Angeles D-Fenders.

Brown, who once played with Jordan Clarkson at Missouri, has earned praise from head coach Byron Scott and his teammates. In the first four games, Brown has averaged 7.0 points while shooting nearly 60 percent from the field and has earned another 10-day contract according to the team’s official Twitter:

With season-ending injuries to Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash and Ronnie Price, the Lakers have lacked backcourt depth. While the Lakers are headed to the NBA lottery for the second consecutive season, the franchise is currently evaluating their young prospects including Brown.

Brown was a camp invite for the Lakers earlier this season, but his play in the D-League earned him another opportunity. Appearing in 39 games for the D-Fenders, Brown was the league’s leading scorer at 24.4 points to go along with 4.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists.
