Lakers Podcast: NBA Trade Deadline Preview; Big Win Over Thunder

The NBA trade deadline is coming up and the Los Angeles Lakers will have some major decisions to make. They are in the midst of a rebuild but hope to have enough cap space to chase a pair of superstar free agents next summer.

Could that goal cause them to trade away useful pieces in order to obtain more space? This episode of the LN Podcast has host Trevor Lane, our own Harrison Faigen, and Pete Zayas of Laker Film Room previewing the upcoming deadline.

Should the Lakers decide to make a move, who would they part with? And what direction should they go in? Plus, how much weight does the team’s play this season hold in trade talks?

Would the Lakers part with pieces that would help them in the future even if it costs them wins this season, or would they prefer to head into the summer with some positive momentum?

Given the fact that the Lakers don’t have a first-round draft pick this year, it’s not as easy of a decision as it would normally be. Free agents may be more willing to take a look at Los Angeles if they are perceived as a team that is on the rise rather than one who limps to the finish line after being stripped down at the deadline.

Additionally, we take a look at the Lakers’ massive road win over the Oklahoma City Thunder. In previous meetings, the Thunder have out-muscled Los Angeles, but this time around it was the Lakers who were the more aggressive team.

We discuss Josh Hart’s role and whether or not he will stick in the starting lineup, plus why Brook Lopez could be in LA to stay.

All that and more, just click the player above.
