The NBA is becoming known as a year-round league thanks to an eventful offseason filled with trades and free-agent signings. One of the biggest dates of the year is always the trade deadline when a number of deals get made by teams either looking to push for a championship or accumulate assets, and the Los Angeles Lakers are sure to be a team to keep an eye on this February.
With that in mind, LN Podcast host Trevor Lane spoke with Alex Kennedy of Hoopshype to discuss the Feb. 8 trade deadline and what it might entail for the Lakers.
The team is rumored to have Julius Randle, Jordan Clarkson, and Larry Nance Jr. on the trade block, but thanks to their recent success, there are questions regarding just how motivated they will be to make a deal now.
After all, chemistry can be a fickle thing, so it may be in their best interest to keep the team intact.
However, if L.A. does decide to make a move, they will almost certainly look to clear cap space in order to make a run at max-level free agents this summer. Who is most likely to be shipped out and what could they expect to get in return?
Additionally, we discuss the injury to DeMarcus Cousins as well as the recent comments of Paul George, both of which suggest they may not be Los Angeles-bound next summer. Will the Lakers come up short in one of the most important offseasons in team history?
We discuss all that and much more, just click the player above to listen.
