Day 3 of Lakers training camp is officially in the books with Byron Scott estimating that about 15-20 percent of practice consisted of offense, as opposed to the 10 percent from yesterday.
The Lakers once again finished practice with 5-on-5 scrimmaging and sprinting drills and will have an additional practice this evening. Though Steve Nash and Kobe Bryant participated in the scrimmages, both sat out of the final sprinting drills (Carlos Boozer sat out of those, as well).
Their 5-on-5 scrimmages were competitive, chippy and full of trash talking. As one would expect, Nick Young and Bryant were constantly going at it, though by the end of practice they had their arms around each other.

Ryan Kelly (moderate left hamstring strain) and Xavier Henry (back spasms) both sat out of Wednesday’s practice.
Ronnie Price has been the standout in Lakers training camp so far with Kobe Bryant and Byron Scott both singing his praises. Bryant also singled out Jordan Clarkson today, calling him a “steal of the draft.”
Lakers guard Nick Young admitted he was exhausted going into practice this morning after a double practice yesterday but also said the entire team knows they have to keep pushing through this week of training camp. Scott said at the moment he envisions Young in a bench role, stating that he thinks Young could be a serious competitor for Sixth Man of the Year. Bryant also had strong words for Young today, saying that he’s a “really big piece to this team.”
Steve Nash said he felt like he’s been moving really well and “uninhibited” in training camp. Nash, who’s started to develop a strong relationship with Jeremy Lin, also commented on his strengths.
“He gets to the basket. He can really get in there at the rim cause problems, create fouls.”
The Lakers will return to the court tonight for a second practice and return tomorrow for Day 4. Check back for our video of today’s scrimmage.
