Lakers Rumors: Andrew Bynum’s Agent Has Not Spoken to Cavaliers

The Los Angeles Lakers are still working on a deal with the Orlando Magic and Cleveland Cavaliers that would get them Dwight Howard. The Lakers will surely be trading away Andrew Bynum, but it is expected that he would end up with the Cavs instead of the Magic. At first, Howard’s reluctancy to sign long-term with the Lakers was a major impediment for progress, but is seems as though Howard has changed his mind. The next big step is to convince Bynum to sign an extension with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

However, according to Bynum’s agent, David Lee, the Cavaliers have not called him to talk about a possible contract. The Cavaliers want to confirm that Bynum would stay long-term, but it appears as though they have not spoken with Lee, yet.

Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon-Journal. Bynum’s agent, David Lee, told me he has had zero conversations with #Cavs GM Chris Grant about a possible trade. “I would imagine any team involved in this trade would be smart enough to talk to us,” Lee said, referring to the fact Bynum is entering the final year of his deal.

The Lakers have reportedly gotten their target, Dwight Howard to commit, and now it is time for Bynum to reach out to the Cavaliers. The Cavs have a nice looking future ahead of them and Bynum would certainly make them into a playoff team. Another intriguing aspect of Cleveland for Bynum would be that he would certainly be a focal point of the offense. Bynum would receive more touches and possibly become a go-to-man for them in the clutch.

At this point, it seems as though if Bynum agrees to sign long-term with the Cavaliers, this block-buster trade will be finalized very soon.
