The Sacramento Kings-DeMarcus Cousins saga has really ramped up over the last few days as it seems more and more unlikely that the Kings will be able to smooth things over with their franchise center. The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the teams who have been most aggressively pursuing the 24 year old.

As the rumors continue, Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News reports that Cousins would be happy with a move to Los Angeles:
“DeMarcus would not be unhappy if he got moved to the Lakers,” said a league source familiar with Cousins’ thinking.
It would seem that Cousins is open to a move to Southern California, and the Lakers are surely interested in bringing him in. However, there are still a number of things that could hinder the Lakers chances of bringing Cousins in.
Kings head coach George Karl reportedly prefers veteran players in exchange for Cousins and the Lakers don’t have any to offer, though that could be helped if they were to bring a third team into the fold. Also, hurting the Lakers is that the Kings have been one of their more fierce rivals over the past 20 years and the two teams play in the same division.
The off-season is heating up for the Lakers and the NBA Draft has yet to take place. Outside of Cousins, Kevin Love has decided to opt-out of his contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and there remains questions as to who the team prefers with the second overall pick in the draft. This summer will surely be an interesting one for the Lakers.
