This free agency period has not gone well for the Los Angeles Lakers as they have seemingly struck out on all of their major targets. LaMarcus Aldridge has reportedly crossed the Lakers off, Greg Monroe and Kevin Love have signed elsewhere, and DeAndre Jordan seems like a long shot after Wednesday’s meeting.

Despite the bad luck so far, the Lakers continue to look through free agency in hopes of finding help for next year’s team. According to Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News, the Lakers are interested in veterans Amar’e Stoudemire and Jason Smith:

I'm told Lakers have expressed interest in Amare Stoudemire & Jason Smith

Stoudemire is still a solid veteran who could offer a nice offensive punch off the bench for a team. He is capable of playing both power forward and center, and averaged over 10 points in only 16 minutes for the Mavericks last season.

Smith spent last season with the New York Knicks, averaging eight points and four rebounds in 21 minutes. He specializes in the mid-range with nearly half of his shot attempts coming from that area, and has shot 44 percent for his career from 16 feet and out.

The Lakers are still working to make something happen in free agency as they have nothing to show right now. Stoudemire and Smith would each offer a good veteran presence and another offensive option for the team if they were to come on.
