Los Angeles Lakers superstar Luka Doncic is in the middle of his first offseason as a member of the purple and gold, after the shocking deal that sent him from Dallas to L.A. at the trade deadline. He has used the offseason to get back in shape after missing a significant portion of the 2024-25 season and is preparing to represent Slovenia at EuroBasket in August.
However, now that he’s left the Mavericks for the Lakers, his brand has skyrocketed. His Lakers jersey quickly became the No. 1 seller in the NBA, surpassing that of teammate LeBron James and other stars like Stephen Curry. And with that comes what is expected to be an even greater emphasis on brand deals, such as his sneaker partnership with the Jordan brand.
And despite EuroBasket being set to begin soon, Doncic is expected to tour his latest sneaker line for Jordan brand in the USA, according to NBA Insider Marc Stein:
The Lakers’ Luka Dončić, I’m told, is scheduled to return soon to the United States for a long-planned Jordan Brand promotional tour for his signature sneaker line.
He’s expected to join Slovenia’s national team in early August to begin EuroBasket preparations.

Doncic has been in Slovenia training for EuroBasket, with the first group stage game for his country scheduled for August 28. But that one-month gap between now and then gives him just enough time to return to the United States for a promotional tour.
This is the exact type of thing that comes with being both an international superstar and a Lakers star. Representing Slovenia is extremely important to Doncic and was his stated focus heading into the summer; however, he still has to fulfill all the responsibilities that come with being an American star.
It’s all part of a summer that’s going to see Doncic star explode to the greatest heights he’s seen thus far.
Luka Doncic reportedly expected to sign extension when eligible
Another good reason for Luka Doncic to be in the United States in the coming weeks is that, starting Aug. 2, he is eligible to sign an extension with the Lakers, tying him to the franchise for anywhere from two to four more seasons.
All indications have pointed towards Doncic eventually signing that extension, although it remains unclear how many years that extension might run. There are positives and negatives to each of Doncic’s options. But any questions there should be answered within the next 1-2 weeks.
