Lakers Rumors & News Recap: Bynum Flip-Flopping and PG Options

Yesterday us Lakers Nation fans got some exciting news pertaining to the rumors circulating the 2012-2013 team roster. According to Mike Bresnahan, Lakers beat writer for the Los Angeles Times, the Lakers had picked up the team option in Andrew Bynum’s contract. The $16.1 million pick up meant that Bynum would return to the Lakers for next season.

David McMenamin of ESPN paints a different picture; he claims that Bynum’s reps are expecting extension talks this summer, and that negotiations hadn’t in fact taken place. It looks like we have to wait a little bit longer to see what will happen with Bynum.

Talks of point guard options were also big today. Ramon Sessions proved to have an iffy end to the season, leaving many of us with the yearn for a stronger point guard. Ryan Ward of Lakers Nation gives us a break down of the top five point guard options for the Lakers in free agency. Here is a summary, but make sure to read the rest of his post while he explains why we may be seeing one of these men on the court next year:

#5 Mo Williams (player option)
#4 Chauncey Billups
#3 Ramon Sessions (player option)
#2 Steve Nash
#1 Deron Williams (player option)
