After a seemingly endless process, the Los Angeles Lakers have offered Byron Scott the head coaching job, according to ESPN’s Chris Broussard:

Scott has always been considered the favorite to land the job in Los Angeles with his ties to the organization and strong relationship with Kobe Bryant. The team interviewed numerous candidates for the coaching vacancy after Mike D’Antoni resigned, but Scott has been the one candidate that seemed to have an edge on all others.

Along with Scott, the team interviewed Mike Dunleavy Sr., Lionel Hollins, Alvin Gentry and Kurt Rambis. Outside of Dunleavy, all the other candidates accepted jobs elsewhere.

The details of Scott’s offer from the Lakers are uncertain at this point, but the two sides are finally negotiating on a deal. It may be a matter of time before he’s officially hired.
