When free agency officially began Saturday night at 9:00 p.m. PT, Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak was already working the phones to see where the team stood with several of its players that would be testing the free agent waters.

After news surfaced that Kupchak reached out to point guard Ramon Sessions, now it’s being reported by Dave McMenamin of ESPN Los Angeles that the team also reached out to forward Jordan Hill.

Kupchak did not wait long before inquiring about Jordan Hill, according to his agent, Kevin Bradbury.

“It was a very good discussion,” Bradbury said.

Hill, 24, was acquired at the trade deadline in exchange for longtime Laker guard Derek Fisher. He worked his way into Mike Brown’s rotation during the post-season, and gave the team productive minutes off the bench.

There are several other teams reportedly interested in Hill, including Minnesota, Phoenix, Miami, Orlando and Golden State.

Hill averaged 4.8 points and 6.3 rebounds for the Lakers during the playoffs.
