On Friday, it was reported the Los Angeles Lakers were attempting to trade the seventh pick in the 2014 NBA Draft in exchange for Klay Thompson as part of a blockbuster three-team trade involving Kevin Love.

While talks have since stalled due to the Golden State Warriors’ reluctance to part with Thompson, it appears they will not be trading him to Los Angeles or Minnesota according to ESPN’s Chris Broussard:

With the NBA Draft just days away, the Lakers have been in numerous trade rumors as they attempt to quickly rebuild from the worst season in franchise history since moving to Los Angeles. While the rumors will continue, the team is pondering whether to draft a power forward or point guard should they ultimately decide to keep it.

With just three players under contract and the Lakers still looking to fill their vacant head coaching position, it will be interesting to see what direction the team takes as the NBA draft and free agency quickly approaches.
