Latest NBA Playoffs Commercial Features ‘Fisher Fling’

Lakers fans remember where they were when Tim Duncan hit a fadeaway basket to give the Spurs a one point lead late in Game 5 of the 2004 Western Conference Semi-Finals with the series tied at 2-2. The Lakers found themselves just 0.4 seconds away from facing elimination in Game 6.

What happened next quickly propelled Derek Fisher from reserve point guard to Laker legend. As Gary Payton inbounded the ball to Fisher, Derek quickly twisted his body and heaved the ball at the basket. The shot miraculously went in, clinching the game and ultimately the series for the Lakers.

This shot, which became known as the ‘Fisher fling,’ or even the ‘0.4 shot,’ is featured in one of the NBA’s latest commercials that promotes this season’s playoffs.
