League Announces Cancellation of First Two Weeks of Season

After a seven hour meeting today in New York City, NBA Commissioner David Stern announced the cancellation of the first two weeks of the regular season. Although the sides gathered on two consecutive days, they could not agree on a new framework of a CBA.

Stern also commentated by saying that NBA fans will not be seeing a full 82-game season.

@KBergCBS: “Stern to fans: “I say that we tried awfully hard. We made, in our view, concession after concession.

Silver: What’s separated us over the past two days are not economic issues, but the system.”

It is hard to say when we will be seeing the Lakers hit the courts again. Some people were optimistic that the sides would fix their problems and ink a new CBA; however, the past couple days have shown us that the BRI split is not the only issue in this seemingly ever-lasting debate.

Stern later went on to say that if the system issue were ironed out, the economic problems would fall in place. Another glimmer of hope came when the Commissioner told reporters that both sides will still be in “communication.”
