With the Los Angeles Lakers beating the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday night, LeBron James picked up the 1,229th win of his career combining the regular and postseason, which passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the most in NBA history.
This is just the latest accomplishment in the illustrious career of James, who now is the NBA all-time leader in points, minutes, games, field goals and wins.
It was a night of milestones for the Lakers as Rui Hachimura reached 5,000 career points while Luka Doncic reached 15,000 to cap off his historic month of March. Additionally, JJ Redick reached 100 career wins in two seasons as a head coach, so the Lakers had plenty of celebrate in the locker room with James’ milestone understandably being the biggest:

What James has been able to do in his career from a longevity standpoint is unmatched as he continues to play at a high level at age 41 in his 23rd season. He has been a key part of the Lakers’ recent surge, putting his ego to the side and playing whatever role is necessary to help the team win games.
That has always been James’ M.O. throughout his career as he is the ultimate Swiss Army knife who can do anything on a basketball court. While James celebrates all of his accomplishments, this one in particular has to be extra special as winning has been his biggest priority throughout his career.
It’s also fitting that he got the record-breaking win against Cleveland, his hometown team that he had two separate stints with and picked up a lot of wins, including an NBA Championship in 2016.
LeBron James speaks about Lakers’ chemistry
The Lakers have been clicking on all cylinders in recent weeks, and James discussed how much their chemistry has grown on and off the court.
“We’re in a good place right now,” James said after a recent win. “The chemistry is high. Everyone loves being around each other. We love playing for one another. We love being off the floor with one another. It’s a good tight-knit group and we gotta carry that for the rest of the regular season then I feel like the postseason is a whole new season.”
James made it clear last offseason that he wants to compete for championships to finish out his career, and perhaps he will have the opportunity to do that with how things are coming together for this Lakers team.
