Even though it is only Summer League, Lonzo Ball impressed a lot of people with his performance on Wednesday night. Ball led the Lakers to a comeback 103-102 win over the Sixers with 36 points, 11 assists, eight rebounds, five steals, and two blocks.
Despite the outstanding performance much of the conversation after the game wasn’t focused on what Ball did on the court, but rather what he was wearing while doing it.
Instead of wearing his Big Baller Brand ZO2s he wore a pair of Kobe Bryant signature shoes. Afterward he explained his reasoning for doing so to Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters:
I had to ask Lonzo about his kicks. On wearing the Kobe ADs, Lonzo said: "mamba mentality…@bigballerbrand you can wear whatever you want" pic.twitter.com/tRRDrQGppl

Lakers fans everywhere certainly enjoyed Ball bringing the ‘Mamba mentality’ to his game. Nonetheless, Ball’s footwear got the attention of the NBA world. Even LeBron James took to his Instagram to make note of it and Sixers rookie Ben Simmons made a couple of comments on the post as well.
Ball seemed to take everything in stride since he is with his family’s own Big Baller Brand he can switch things up if he wants and wear Nike, Adidas, Under Armour, or whatever other brand he feels like on that day. With his father LaVar making a big deal about starting their own brand however, there is sure to be plenty of things said whenever Lonzo doesn’t wear his own signature shoe.
With the Lakers set to continue their quest for a Summer League championship Thursday night against the Cleveland Cavaliers, all eyes will be on Ball’s feet again to see exactly what he’s wearing. If he has another performance like his Wednesday night game while wearing Nikes, there could be a lot of fans pleading for him to sign with them.
