The Los Angeles Lakers came into Sunday’s showdown with Karl-Anthony Towns and the Minnesota Timberwolves having won two straight games with wins over the Sacramento Kings and New Orleans Pelicans. Towns and company pose a threat for obvious reasons as the Lakers want to keep the streak alive.
In the impressive win over the Pelicans, the Lakers came out with a 27-point victory to improve to 6-4 on the year thus far. Unfortunately, rookie forward Brandon Ingram tweaked his left ankle leaving his status up in the air with the team preparing for the second game of a back-to-back on Sunday.
Ingram, however, downplayed the severity of the ankle injury and was cleared shortly ahead of game time on Sunday to play against the Timberwolves.
With Ingram given the green light, the stage was set for a battle between two of the youngest and most promising teams in the NBA. Both teams in similar situations regarding rebuilding with a new head coach and draft with promising futures ahead.
