The Los Angeles Lakers extended their losing streak to six games on Friday night, with a 118-112 loss to the New York Knicks, despite the return of both D’Angelo Russell and Nick Young. The Lakers had no trouble finding the net, but it was once again defensive issues that plagued the Lakers, unable to contain Derrick Rose, Kristaps Porzingis or Brandon Jennings.

Both Young and Russell were on minutes restrictions and chatted with the media about how they felt in their return. Russell owned up to his individual defensive deficiencies, which allowed Rose to get in a rhythm, shooting a perfect 8-8 from the field to start the game.

Young said teammates are starting to feel the pressure of the losing streak, and it’s showing defensively, as players are looking to outscore the opponent, rather than focus on defensive stops.

Head coach Luke Walton talked about Luol Deng having his best game as a Laker with 22 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals. Russell also said Deng finding his rhythm will be a big key to their success in the future.

The Lakers head on a seven-game, 12 day roadtrip with the first stop in Sacramento, not returning back to Staples Center until Christmas Day.
