Without a doubt Luka Doncic is one of the best basketball players on the planet and has been for a very long time. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar has an unreal array of skills that have allowed him to place himself amongst the elite of the elite.

This summer, Doncic has been on a tour with Jordan Brand and in one interview was asked to build the perfect NBA player based on five skills: IQ, strength, passing, shooting and mentality. And Doncic would select multiple Lakers legends, including Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Shaquille O’Neal, via Basketball Emotion:

It is difficult to argue with Doncic’s selections on basically all of those categories. James is known as one of the most cerebral and intelligent basketball players of all time, so taking him for the IQ category was a no-brainer. The same can be said for O’Neal in strength as there is simply nobody who can match the force that he brought on the court. Meanwhile, Bryant coined the term “Mamba Mentality” because his incessant work ethic and desire to be the best.

Choosing Stephen Curry for the shooting category is also basically an automatic as he is universally considered the greatest shooter of all time. If there is one category some might argue it would be Doncic taking Nash for his passing over someone like Magic Johnson. And even still, Nash is clearly one of the best passers in NBA history, but choosing another Lakers legend would have been nice to see.

Regardless, Doncic is now on the path to seeing his name pop up in exercises like this and if people were to use current players, he would undoubtedly be on many people’s lists. But as is always the case with these types of things, it is impossible not to bring up multiple former Lakers greats, proving just how great this franchise has been for the entirety of its existence.

Luka Doncic reportedly ‘excited’ about Lakers’ offseason moves

One thing that Doncic has been very open about is his desire to win a championship with the Lakers and the franchise made a number of moves this summer in hopes of bringing him closer to that goal.

The Lakers traded for center Walker Kessler, added other intriguing pieces in Quentin Grimes, Sandro Mamukelashvili and Collin Sexton, and re-signed Austin Reaves to a new four-year contract. And the Lakers superstar is reportedly excited about what the franchise did this offseason.
