Luka Doncic led the Los Angeles Lakers to a 5-1 record on their recent six-game road trip. Doncic dropped 43 points in the Lakers’ road finale against the Indiana Pacers, making it look easy in the process.

Doncic has always been considered an all-world scorer but he outdid himself on the road trip as defenses had zero answers for him. Whether it was at the rim, beyond the arc or at the free throw line, Doncic found ways to score in bunches and the Lakers got to enjoy more wins in the process.

Doncic’s recent scoring output has put his name next to franchise legends like Kobe Bryant as he averaged 37.8 points over a six-game stretch, the most by a Laker since the Black Mamba. Doncic now finds himself in the company of another Hall of Famer in Michael Jordan for his road trip scoring explosions via ESPN.

Luka Doncic is the first player to average 40 points over a six-game span — all on the road — since MJ in 1986 😳

It took 40 years for someone to match the Chicago Bulls icon, but Doncic almost looks more comfortable in road environments because of how much he likes talking to opposing fans. The greats typically enjoy the trash talk that comes with being a star player, and Doncic shines brightest when he gets even a small taste of it.

There aren’t many players in NBA history who can score as easily as Doncic as he has ways of getting to the spots he wants. Even though Doncic plays at a slower pace, his combination of handles, physicality and patience make him a nightmare to defend.

Someone like Jordan can definitely appreciate a kindred spirit in Doncic who also wants to be the one to take over in crunch time. However, what makes Doncic even more dangerous is he’s just as deadly as a playmaker and passer thanks to his natural feel and vision.

Doncic has almost single-handedly turned the Lakers into a legitimate contender and it’ll be exciting to see how much longer he can keep his offensive streak going.

Luka Doncic makes NBA history

The raw numbers that Doncic is producing look like they’re pulled straight from a video game. Doncic can fill a box score in a hurry, and he recently made NBA history by becoming the first player to record more than 390 points, 80 rebounds, 70 assists and 25 steals over a 10-game stretch.
