Matt Barnes was a member of the Orlando Magic for the 2009-10 season and he had the luxury of playing alongside the best center in the league, Dwight Howard. However, despite the fact that Barnes joined the Lakers, he still keeps in touch with Howard.

Los Angeles Times’ Mark Medina writes that Barnes talked to Howard last week and the two discussed the possibility of reuniting as members of the Lakers.

“He knows the opportunity he has here,” Barnes said. “But with that said, it’s not about what we want or the Lakers want or what I want. It’s about what’s best for him and his family.”

The Lakers would no doubt benefit from adding Howard to the team and it would be an upgrade from their current center, Andrew Bynum. Although the Lakers may have to give up some of their length in order to get Howard, the team would be set at that position for years to come.

The Lakers already have traded Lamar Odom to the Mavericks, and it seems as though all of the front office’s focus is on making a push for Dwight Howard.
